Accountant, business owner and the person behind Koyn.

I didn’t start Koyn because I had a big plan to build an accountancy firm.

I started it because I needed work to fit around my life, rather than my life having to fit around work.

After having my first child, going back to my management accounting role just wasn’t practical. The hours didn’t work with childcare, the cost would have taken a huge chunk of my salary and I needed more flexibility for my family.

Then Covid happened.

I went into lockdown with an eight-month-old, two months pregnant with my second child, dealing with illness in the family and in a job built around fixed month-end deadlines.

Going back to work in the way I had before simply wasn’t feasible.

So I created Koyn.

That experience still shapes how I think about business

I know what it’s like to build a business around the life you actually want to live. And that’s a big part of how I work with my clients today.

Of course, your accounts need to be filed, your tax needs to be calculated and everything needs to be done properly.

But I also want you to understand what your numbers actually mean for you and your business.

  • Can you afford to hire?
  • Can you pay yourself more?
  • Is the business actually as profitable as it feels?
  • Can you afford that next investment?

I don’t believe success has to mean more clients, more staff, more hours and chasing turnover goal after turnover goal.

I’m much more interested in helping you build a financially healthy business that pays you properly and works for the life you want.

Before starting Koyn, I worked in management accounting, which is probably why I’ve always been interested in more than getting the accounts filed. I want to understand what the numbers are telling us about the business.

As a CIMA Member in Practice, I’m required to meet CIMA’s professional and ethical standards, maintain my professional development and comply with its practising requirements.

Today, Koyn specialises in working with businesses across the fitness industry, including gym and studio owners, online fitness coaches and personal trainers.
